History’s best, Roger Federer crashed out of the Rome Masters with a loss to world number 21 and Latvian Ernests Gulbis 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Roger’s early exit gives Djokovic and Nadal to push for first as Djokovic is 2,000 points behind Federer and Nadal is barely 900 points behind Djokovic.

Federer fans hopeful that Ernests Gulbis or anyone besides Djokovic and Rafa win.

Federer takes 16 part 2

February 1, 2010 8 comments

Yesterday, I didnt complete the post. I will make a new one with the pictures.

Despite being 5-2 down in the third set, Federer managed to make it 5-5 and take it into a very stressful tie-break that Murray had 5 chances to close it and all were foiled due to forehand errors. Federer took his chances well overall serving 11 aces and 2 double faults. The 24 point tiebreak was taken by Federer 13-11 thank god, he didnt cry for once! 🙂 Federer extends his tally to 16 and he will hopefully make it 17 when he defends his French Open title in May. The pictures below contain the celebrations that Federer did from all angles.

Meanwhile, Murray, Hewitt and Nadal are out of the game. Murray injured his thigh so he is out for 2 weeks. Hewitt is out for up to 2 months after a hip flexor. Nadal is also out for 2 months hurting his knee again.

Federer Wins!!

January 31, 2010 17 comments

Federer just won his 16th grandslam and was declared winner of Australian open 2010. He was playing against Murray and beat him 6-3 6-4 and 7-6 (tie break score 13-11). Even though it was just three sets, it was when of the most exciting three sets I’ve ever watched. It lasted more than 2 and a half hours and it was really fun to watch them play.

P.S if I didn’t make this post Ranvir would have made it.

Federer Back In Business

Roger Federer made a historic comeback to crush Nikolay Davydenko in 4 sets in the quarters of the Aussie Open. Federer will play either Djokovic or Tsonga  in the semis. During the time we had to do our rotations, Ping Ping, Mick and Alfie were following the match for the last 5 minutes. Since he was losing 6-2, 3-1- Ping Ping and Mick left hope. I said that he will win and obviously, I was right. Federer pulled a 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5 victory over the Russian. Federer left Prince William of England standing up clapping for the master who is aiming for his 16th grand slam title. I had a practice for myself as well and I made it 10 minutes late just to see the match. The match lasted 3 hrs and 26 minutes.

In the other half, Murray will play Cilic in the semis at 15:30.
