They have been saved!

The human spirit, determination and cooperation win through

I am sure you now have all heard the story of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped in a mine for more than 2 months.

It has been a story that has grabbed global attention – not just from the media but for the scientific world. Once news got out about the disaster, engineers and scientists from around the world developed and proposed solutions to get the miners out.

In the end a solution was found and now the miners are out. It is amazing what people can do when they work together. That goes for the people stuck in the mine and also the people around the world who collaborated to help get the miners out.

I also watched the news and it said that they use this pipe thing or capsule to save the miners from underground and I think the people there are really wise.
My mom thinks that the Chileans do really care about their people because she said that they kept digging to find the miners and she reckons that no other country would keep on digging to save their people. For example for Korea, they would’ve just gave up and the miners would have suffocated. I think that Chile people have to get some kind of award or something for not giving up and keep trying. Maybe the Chileans just rescued them because they still needed the miners to keep going down the mine and get precious jewels. But it’s not always the jewels that you mine you get. You also get dirt and mud. But I don’t think that the Chileans will let those people stop going down the mine or stop the mining system because it took a long time for them to rescue them so I think that the Chile people don’t want to suffer a long and painful ordeal again.

It’s amazing how this story got so much attention. I think it’s because we are all so desperate for “good news”, for stories of people working together to do something good. We are too surrounded by bad news, it’s so depressing.

The human ingenuity, creativity and positive spirit that helped these guys come out alive is awe-inspiring.

    Long live good news.
