My book was Sixth Grade Secrets. I finished it on my bus. I chose this book because I really want to know next year’s secrets. Louis Sachar is a funny author and writes this book:Sixth Grade Secrets, There’s a Boy in the Girls Bathroom and etc. The great part of the book fo me is when Gabriel say sorry to Laura and when Gabriel gives Laura some flowers.

This week I’m reading a book called ” Paws Of Cheddarface.” I think it was really interesting because there was 2 Geronimo Stiltons and the real Geornimo Stilton’s family don’t know which one is the real one so they chose the fake one. It is quite interesting when I got to the middle of the book because the real Geronimo doen’t have a home and The Rodent’s Gazette belongs to a mouse called ” Sally.”

I advise you to read the same book at school and at home, then you can finish it faster. I can also make sure that you’re not trying to read books that are too difficult or that you are not all that interested in.

I can read this book but somewords are hard for me and i can not bring the book to school and read it faster because there is tasks that i need to do after i read chapters so i think my tutor teacher would not like it when i know all the answers.

    October 11, 2010 at 5:26 pm

I am reading the book THE BOY WHO LOST HIS FACE. I am just in the beginning so I don’t really know the main part. But the beginning is about:
It’s about a boy named David who’s cursed by a lady named Mrs. Bayfield when he was helping his friends steal her cane by asking her to let them drink the lemonade and then pouring it on her face. But I don’t know why Mrs. Bayfield put a curse on David because he hasn’t done anything wrong. Maybe it’s because he pointed a middle finger at her but’s that’s an offence. So she said something to David about Your doppleganger will be outsouled or something like that. I couldn’t really get what she said because it wasn’t definitely English.
The character I like is David because he’s an innocent boy and he’s also the main character of the book. Also, he’s really honest. That was proved when he threw the ball to the window and saying that he has done it. But his brother Ricky said that he could’ve caught it. I think that his family is really too good to be in existence.

I don’t know any of the book that Louis Sachar is making now. But if there’s one, I want to hear about it.

      October 11, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Maybe we can email Louis Sachar to ask him if he’s writing a book at the moment?

I am reading “Mermaid Apprentices” I am half way through the book (not exactly half yet) I liked the part when Nathair really cared about his sick mother that he had to steal things (food etc) for her to eat and live because her allergies were really bad and she was very weak. I also like the part when Nathair and Leilah just found out that they were going to be mermaid apprentices and when Ora told Nathair and Leilah that their father and mother were quarter or quarter of a quarter mermaid. Like when Nathair asked Ora “When my father was with us, and my mother has allergies he made her a medicine (herb) for her to drink and my mother got a lot better” and then Ora said: ” There are so many cures (herbs) in our “world” we cannot look at all of them because there is to much” I thought that Nathair was a really caring person. I think that Ora is a very clever woman because at the start when Ora was trying to ask Nathair to open the door at his house (that time Nathair didn’t know who Ora is and that time Nathair didn’t know that he is going to study in the Interspecies Academy) Then this was the conversation: There was a knock on the door. Nathair jerked awake, sitting up. What on earth-? “Is this the residence of Nathair black?” a women said. He thought that it was a stranger and he thought that it was a enemy but he thought over and over again that how did the women knew his name becasue nobody had every knew his name. Then he grabbed an old baseball bat the sat beside the door. He cleared his throat then he said ” Who’s there?” “Nathair Black?” asked a woman’s voice. Young, but confident. ” Nathair said No…. They left this flat a month ago.” ” Who is this?” asked the young and confident woman. “Why…. John Smith” he blurted out. Then he felt really stuid because John Smith was really common name that sounded like he was disguising. ” Mr. Smith can you please open the door I have something to tell you” Nathair opened the door only a little crack. He tried to figure out the figures infront of his door. Then he fell down and the door opened. “Hello,” the taller female said politely. “I’m Ayora Seabright, pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. John Smith,” She grinned. “Or rather, Nathair Black,” I really really enjoyed reading this part because it explained that Ora is a very clever woman that can take care of a very clever boy. I also liked the part when Mrs. Alverna told Leilah that she had to leave (Mrs. Alverna is a teacher that has a really good relationship with Leilah, Leilah thought the Mrs. Alverna was like a mother to her, Mrs. Alverna is a teacher in the Orphanage that takes care of the kids in the orphanage.) At last Leilah got adopted by Ora (Just to take Leilah to the interspecies academy, Not adopting) then Ora told Leilah that Mrs. Alverna isn’t leaving but Mrs. Alverna had a mission to do because Mrs. Alverna is a mermaid/human. The character I liked is Leilah because she has deep understandings and she makes people trust her and she is a very interesting girl. I also chose this book because Pieretta Dawn was talking about her book and I felt personally that it is a very interesting book.
I think that Pieretta Dawn is a very good author and her book really did impress me and I think that she has a deep understandings about the book and she really really knows about her characters and she doesn’t just want to be cool because she is very young to write a book, I think that she really wants to write a book so she though very deeply and found that she was really interested in mermaids. I think that this is also her inspiration. Another inspiration that I think that she got is her mother because her mother was like really fullfilling her dreams.

Wow Pin. That was explained very clearly. I agree with the Pieretta part that she doesn’t want to be cool, maybe she was really inspired and really wanted to write a book. You have a good point.
I liked how you explained it clearly because people who havent read the book yet (like me) will think, “wow. This book sould seem really good” and then they start reading it. You have explained the characters really clearly and how they relate to the main characters.

The book that I am reading for the moment is called SnakeHead which I was already reading last week. It was written by Anthony Horowitz who wrote a couple of other series. SnakeHead is the 9th book in the Alex Rider series. I am almost finished with SnakeHead. Alex Rider is a fourteen year old teenage who lost his parents (His dad spy, Mom nurse), they died because of a bomb set in the baggages carriage which was set by Scorpia (book 5 of the Alex Rider series). Scorpia is a friend of SnakeHead and they work together. Scorpia is a bit like SnakeHead: it causes crimes and stuff like that. In book 5 of the Alex Rider series (the one with Scorpia) Scorpia tries to activate the Invisible Sword invention which would kill millions of people. Though Alex Rider has stopped it and has put an end to Scorpia. But there was still SnakeHead to deal with, let me tell you a bit about SnakeHead. SnakeHead is a criminal organizations who cause crimes, kill, murder, sell drugs and stuff like that. So SnakeHead is the bad guy, and then there’s MI6 and that is a spy organization which Alex Rider works in. Right now I am on the part where Major Yu (the leader of SnakeHead) has captured Alex in a secret hospital and right now Alex is in the middle of escaping so I really want to get back to it. I would highly recommend the Alex Rider series and maybe other books of Anthony Horowitz for anyone who is interested in spies, actions and stuff like that.

I am currently reading Dog Don’t Tell Jokes. I chose this book because i just finnish The Boy Who Lost His Face and it was really good so that made me want to read another Louis Sarchar book. My favorite character is Goon because he makes up some may funny jokes and when he was in class his teacher said you have to right a story he asked how long and the teacher said what ever you like and then he went to his desk and wrote Once a upon a time there was a boy who ate fire and he died The end then the teacher didn’t take the peace of work.

    October 11, 2010 at 6:30 pm

The book I am reading at the moment is “It’s not the end of the world”. I chose this book because on the blurb it told me that this is a story about a girl whoms parents divorce, and my parents get along really well and I thought it would be interesting to read how kids whoms parents get divorced feel about their parents and everyone and everything else around them. I am really engrossed in this book because the main character which is the girl called Karen is changing a lot because of what’s happened to her family. I really like reading about this girl because I love finding out how she and her siblings react and how they deal with things and what mistakes they make and in what points they are really strong and help their family but in others they let them down.
The thing I like about this book is it gives the perspective of one kid but you can always know how other people are feeling and thinking.
The thing that I don’t like about is the length of the chapters. I think the chapters are to long, if there were short chapters then you would always be able to think “I’ll finish this chapter quickly and then I will move on to doing the other things that I have to do but when I have these long chapters I have to think oh this chapter is too long I won’t be able to finish it because I can’t just draw in the book and mark what chapter I am up to.
The character I really like is Amy who is the little sister of The main character Karen. I really like Amy because I find it very appealing how 6 year olds react, we see a few 6 year olds around school with their friends but you don’t see much of their personality when you just walk past them and I don’t know what kind of interests and problems 6 year olds have so I enjoy finding that out.
The character I don’t like is Val she is the new next door neighbor of Karen’s dad and her parents are also also divorced she keeps telling things to Karen like divorced women always fall for their layers and other things that just worry Karen even more when she is already having a bad time with her parents divorcing. Val just wants to feel like she is incredibly smart she should just think that ” Should I really tell Karen all these things when she is having such a bad time already?”
The bit I really like is when Karen and her friend Debbie who is staying for a sleepover carry the sleeping Amy into the bed and they leave the lights on because the little sister had been scared at night the last couple of days. I really like this bit because it isn’t a time when there is anybody fighting or any other stress around the house and Karen and her friend Debbie are being really caring.
The setting of the story is the town where Karen lives and the name of it isn’t mentioned.

I am currently reading ‘Dogs dont tell jokes’ I just finished ‘The Boy Who Lost His Face’ I thought it was AWESOME so i decided to take another Louis sachar book. My favourite character in this book is probably Goon because like Seb said he has a lot of funny jokes and like Seb said he tells a lot of funny jokes. He is also quiet brave because there is going to be a talent show and when he went to sign up there was no names on it but then he still signed up even if there wasn’t a name on the sheet. ( wouldn’t have signed up if there was a talent show and noone else had signed up)

I talk about this book all the time so I’ll talk about there’s a boy in the girls bathroom.
i chose this book beacause it was interesting.
I like when louis sachar always talks anout carla’s shirts and how bradley changes.
    i lik ecarla and collen
i dont like bradleys sister whats her name??
A great part of the book is when bradley plays basket ball with his friends.
the setting is at home at school and at the barber.
I really like the author because he describes every thing cooly and interestingly
I dont like it how he never puts drawings.

I am STILL reading the Lightning theif. I know I take a long time but I try not to read so quickly because I end up not getting the book if I read quickly.
Now the book is getting very exiting for me because from when Percy, Annabeth and Grover went out of the Casino place, there’s only 1 day left to find the Lightning Bolt and return it! I hope most of you know what I’m talking about but for those who don’t, here is my BRIEF explanation:
Percy Jackson and the Lightning theif is about a boy called Percy. He is a demigod which means half god half human and his dad is Posiedon, God of the waters. Zeus, the God of the skies has lost his powerful weapon: his master lightning bolt. He and some other people claim that Percy has stolen it but it is NOT TRUE. Now Percy has to return it within the deadline otherwise there will be a war between the gods. He is with 2 of his friends, Annabeth and Grover. He just went out of a casino and the casino made him have to hurry because it makes people stay for a long time without noticing how many days they have been there. Percy and his friends now have only 1 day to find the bolt and return it before the deadline.
This book is very interesting because the setting always changes and the people in the book have a strong personality. Rick Riordan, the authour, to me is a very good writer and has lots of ideas in mind. Annabeth is my favourite character in the book because she to me has a strong personality and is brave and stands up for herself. I like her not because she’s a girl but because of the way she acts and how she is being nicer to Percy through out the journey. I really recommend this book to anyone who hasn’t read it yet. Though its long, its fun. This book is filled with a great adventure and it has lots of detail which could make anyone understand it well just like me-I understand this book very easily unlike other books that I find very hard to understand.

Wow Am you explained that so clearly have you seen the movie? I saw the movie and it was great. Do you know ‘Clash of titans’? Because its around the same story as ‘Percy Jackson and the lightning thief’.
I`m reading ‘Super fast out of control ‘by Louis Sacher the same author as ‘There is a boy in the girls bathroom’. On last weaks homework I said ‘I`m reading (There is a boy in the girls bathroom) because I’m getting curious about Bradley but when I read by myself I don’t really get the meaning but when Mr. Sam reads it makes a good laugh and I get what he says so I think I shouldn’t read this book indervisualy and let Mr. Sam read the book. So I don’t really know what i should read so what do you guy think do you think (There is a boy in the girls bathroom)a good level for me or should I chose another one?’So when we went to the library Mr. Sam helped me find a Louis Sachar book.

Ive chosen this book because its mythology magic and adventures with some mysteries to it… anyways, I LOVE these kind of books anything that has mythology and adventures or mysteries, are my style of writing. (Although I dont write one myself…) So yeah, Pieretta Dawn is an amazing writer and I enjoy her books. I like the base of the story which is a orphanage place then… (I dont know what happenes next because I havent read it yet.) It takes place at Mondresible Orphange.

    Task C- Reading

This week I am reading ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. I am past halfway near the book and so far I am loving it!
It is getting really exciting because J.K. Rowling has mentioned the deathly hallows for the first time. I have just learnt about it and it sounds like the book is going to get much more exciting than it already is.
The book has been getting more and more intense. It has also been getting very sad because another one of my favorite characters have died.
So far in the book 3 people have been badley injured, 3 important characters have died and I don’t know how many random people have died.
Harry has had 6 near death experiences already which has been really interesting and exciting.
I really like how there are many exciting scenes, near deaths and I hope there are more waiting for me.

I have just finished my new book called “The Fire Thief”. I chose this book because I like the title of the book, it seemed like a suspense. The main characters are: Jim, Uncle Edward and Prometheus. Prometheus was a Greek God. He was the one who stole fire from another God called Zeus and gave it too the human race. His punishment was to be chained to a rock and to have his liver torn out by a monstrous bird. Now he has to find a hero from the human race. And that is when he met Jim and Uncle Edward. Then in the end he was going to be hanged for working with thieves. But then the judge said no. Then everything came back to normal. I would recommend you to read this book. Its thrilling.

I have just finished reading “Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets”. Through out this book I was deeply engrossed in it.
I chose this book because I liked “Harry Potter 1” so I decided to read Harry Potter 2 and I am looking forward to reading the next one.
I am really liking the J.K.Rowling’s writing style. She always writes something new and unexpected on each page. The story gets more interesting on each page.
My favourite part of the book is when Harry goes inside Tom Riddles diary and sees what he saw. Then he finds out Tom Riddle is actully Voldmart his worst enemy. Then Voldmart vanishes when Harry does a spell.
I reccomend this book for anybody from Year 3+.

I like Robinson Crusoe (the main character) because he solved all things by himself.
The setting is Robinson went to the ship, but he met the massive storm, so he pushed to an island. Also he tries to save and have a lot of adventures.
The author is Daniel Defoe. He was born in London and he was English writer. He wrote several books.
