Our speaking and listening essential agreements

We have been telling stories and listening to stories and then talking about how we should behave when we are speaking and listening. We discussed our body language, our facial expressions and the choices we should make about when and how to speak.

Now, we need one or two sentences to become our essential agreement about speaking and listening. Make a comment and have a go at putting together a sentence that includes positive instructions about how to speak and listen successfully. If you can’t think of a sentence, just tell us what key words you think should be in the sentence.

if you want someone to listen to you, listen to the p erson talking and respect.

when your talking speak clearly so the person listening can understand and they will respect you and do the same to you.

i mean just because the other person did not listen to you does not mean you should not listen to them and not learn you should still listen to them to learn but i do agree that it is not good to be disrespectful

    We should all agree that..

1.We should wait until the person that is speaking finishes talking
2.We should listen to the instructions Mr. Sam gives us so he doesn’t have to say them again
3.We should face the speaker and try not to get distracted

I agree Sam. Maybe instead of try not to get distracted maybe you could say ‘concentrate and focus to what the speaker is saying.’

The listener should listen to the story teller and eye contact. The story teller should speak clearly and loudly.

There are two or three things that the speaker should do:
1.speak loud enough for the listener to hear.
    2.speak properly.
    3.speak clearly.

There are two things that the listener should do:
    1.be respectful when listening.
2.listen carefully so that you can remeber when you listen.

I think everybody should agree that

    1. When someone speaks you should give him your full attention.
    2. When someone is speaking face him.
    3. When you are speaking speak loud and clear so we can understand

the speakers have to be loud and clear.
the listeners have look eye to eye with the speaker and not talk to others.

The listener should keep eye contact with the speaker and make sure your body language shows that you are listening carefully.

The speaker should also speak clearly and loud enough for the listener to hear. Keep eye contact and tell the story clearly so that the listener wont be bored.

The speaker should have a loud and clear voice.

The listener should be quiet and if they(listener)want to comment about the story they should wait until the story ends, the listener should have eye contact on the speaker

The listener should have eye contact. We should listen carefully and give respect to the person talking. When we talk it should be loud and clear so we are understood properly. If we use expressions, the listener would be more interested.

yeah i agree with you Anirudh. It wouldn’t be as fun to listen to a story if they didnt use any expressions insted just saying the story.

  17. 18rairatc
    August 17, 2010 at 5:52 pm

I agree Anirudh. We should use inspirations so the listener won’t get bored!

Listener: The listener should have I contact with the speaker and should be focused and concentrate to what the speaker says.

Speaker: The speaker should talk loud and clear so the listener can know what you are saying. The speaker should also use facial expressions so that the story could be intersting.

The listener should be listening to what the reader is saying and not interupt all the time. The reader should speak with a clear voice so that the person listening can hear and also like Anirudh said the reader should use expressions so the listener wouldnt get bored.
