Food for Friday

Barb's delicious Indian Food from Vij's Cookbook - IMG_5980 by roland.

On Friday, from 9:00 – 10:00, Year 6 students are invited to bring in some food for all of us to share. Usually, people bring big bags of chips, cakes, bottles of Coke and Sprite and all sprts of other unhealthy things. I would like us to do things quite differently because I am a fan of food and I know you are too!

So, on Friday, please bring in either:

  • A dish that is very typical of your country/culture
  • Something that you have cooked yourself
  • Your absolute favourite dish
  • Something from your favourite restaurant

Please don’t bring too much food, it is such a shame when food gets wasted at these parties. Just bring enough for about 5-8 people to have a little bit of it.

I can’t wait to try some of this delicious food… it’s so much better than stuffing chips into our faces and drinking too much Coke!

Make a comment to tell us what you are thinking of bringing.

I am planning to bring brownies or otherwise a sweet which is cereal mixed with marshmallows because if I bring something thai I would be hard to bring since the Thai sweets have coconut milk so it is hard to bring to school. I’m scared it will rot. Anyways brownies are easy because I already have chocolate in my fridge + other ingredients since I just did brownies this week. I might as well bring some sticky rice because it is my favorite thing.

    June 9, 2010 at 9:52 am

I am thinking of bringing in salad that i will make or either different indian sweets than Nikki. It will be good to also have something from my religion/culture.

    • Mr. Sam
      June 9, 2010 at 10:02 am

Salad is quite hard to eat without proper forks and stuff. Can you make something from your culture that is not sweet and is easy to eat?

  15. ~*SUJINNA*~
    June 9, 2010 at 9:54 am

I really like the idea of making things by myself from maybe a bit of guidance. I have been thinking of bringing salad or either indian sweets that arent the same as Nikki’s.

    • Mr. Sam
      June 9, 2010 at 10:00 am

The only problem with salads is they are not easy to eat. What is your absolute favourite food?

      • Rosna
        June 9, 2010 at 10:05 am

I will have to get back to you on that. I am going to talk with my parents about what I can make so it would be a lot of meaning that is also easy to eat.

        • Mr. Sam
          June 9, 2010 at 10:15 am

          Good thinking!
