Mr. Robert Steele from The AtKisson Group spoke to you all today about sustainable development and the Compass tool. He spoke a lot about the future and he also said that you are the future. What do you think the world will be like in 10 years?

There is no right or wrong answer to the question that Mr. Sam is asking. Some may think that the world may be great and everything will be all green but some may think that the world is going to be destroyed and we can’t stop that from happening. In terms of my theories, I would imagine a world with flying cars, power laces that you will not need to tie your shoes and such but something that has a high chance of happening is the world is going to be hotter than before and there will be more disasters and natural causes since we are destroying our home with pollution that we use everyday. Although it seems bad that our world is coming down, there is hope that someday, someone will make a change to our world because as we know, the world is in our generations’ hands and we could make a change by following the king’s ways of being eco-friendly for instance. This is a messege to everybody:
“Our future depends on you”.

I agree with Sasha that Ping Ping’s quote is very interesting and mabey it can help our future!
Some movie directors also forsee about the future in 10 years like the movie “Back to the Future” since it tells how the world is like in 2015. In my opinion, the world will be way too technological because the development of phones and “Facebook” that are taking people’s lives into their own world. People will just stare on the computer or telephone screen all day long and just sit there doing some “like-socialising” with people they have no idea about. They would also get frustrated easily and whenever an adult tries to help them out of the screen, they go all violent. That happened to me once when I was playing a game on the computer for too long and my mom tried to get me off it and I got violent. I forsee the future that Countries in the world would open hospitals for kids that are stuck to games because kids’ hearts are very sensitive like a piece of cloth and they can become game-addicts in no time.

In addition, maybe there will be newer and more interesting sports in the world considering mixing sports together to create a better sport. I really hope that the economics crisis comes to an end and the selfish people stop their deeds. More schools are going to open, the world of arms will be more dangerous as there will be more advanced weopons and sattelite targeting and more types of guns are going to be made for sure.

I think that the world will completely change because people will become more cautious in 2012 or 2013. I’m sure that Haiti will be rebuilt in that time like the PM says. Maybe there will be more electronic Hybrid cars [all brands].
Hopefully, I can enter the ITF for tennis in 2020 :;. There will be more tournaments in such wierd places like THE AMAZON RAINFOREST, RUINS OF POMPEII, GREEK CHAMBERS, GRAND CANYON and so on… There will be robots that can do anything for you like Homework, make meals etc. Osama Bin Laden will be found by then and maybe killed. Obama will get kicked out as president and some new dude will get in. The systems of work and jobs will get better slowly and the economy will surely get better. I also must admit the state of the Earth. 6 MAJOR DISASTERS IN 2 MONTHS IS MADNESS.

I think the world will change quite a lot because of how much pollution there is, how much oil is left, how much water there is left and because of these issues we will have wars for oil, water and land. “IF WE DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN WE HAVE TO CARE ABOUT THE EARTH AND HOW WE CAN MAKE A GOOD FUTURE OF EVERYONE.”
The condition of the earth right now is already really bad and I HOPE EVERYONE WANTS TO HAVE A GOOD FUTURE AND WANTS TO MAKE OUR PLANET EARTH A BETTER PLACE.
I think in the future mostly everything is going to be technology (there are going to be very high-tech stuff for example phone, laptops/ computers everything) because people don’t care and just invent and invent, I am not saying inventing is bad but we should stop using cars for example to go somewhere really close and where we can walk to but we don’t bother to. Also in the future EVERYONE is going to need water, food, land etc.. and if we want to have those things without fighting for them “WE NEED TO MAKE EARTH A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US”

I think that in 10 more years, we would have better technology so I think that the transport would have more function, it could be more easy to use and maybe the design would look better, or it can be that there would be no more transportation, you have to walk instead which will not the pollute the world.
The environment and nature could be better or worse, depending on us. The reason I say this is because we could keep continuing to cut down trees and kill animals, it would be worse, But if we keep on planting more trees and not destroy the rain-forest and not kill the animals, then it would be better because we would have more oxygen and when you go to places, we can see the animals and study about them, and for the scientists, they could study on them and know how they live and maybe could breed them so we could have more of them so the animals don’t become extinct like the dodo bird for example.
About the community, we could have more eco friendly house so we don’t have to use and turn on the A.C. that often which will help reduce the amount of heat that goes into the atmosphere. With that, it also means we would not cause global warming that much. We would have a higher population (I think) so that means we might have more villages, houses, condos, hotels, etc.
The technology, by so many chances would be improved for our use, there would be more electronics and more function in each kind of electronics so that we would feel more comfortable using it and also more easy to use. With technology, we could be able to reduce global warming because we COULD produce a kind of car, electronic, ac, etc. which uses less electricity and give out less heat. With Communication, I think that we would have something more easy to use and more portable than mobile phones and walkie talkies. Communication is linked to Technology. If we don’t improve our technology, there would be so less chance that we would improve our communication devices.
We could discover more diseases which has a worse effect on you more than the H1N1. And we could discover more ways to heel diseases so we don’t get sick. There could be diseases that cannot be heeled so we might have to suffer from a lot of dangerous diseases. Later on, we could have more sports to play. Sports are linked to health because with sports, you exercise which will make you because more healthy and strong. With more sports, we could have more people playing sports so we won’t have to go to the hospital that often.
We could discover more parts of the world with better technology. We could discover some places where we could maybe find more fuel or if we go deep down to the sea, we could maybe discover volcanoes or a land that has sunken down into the sea. Exploration is linked to war and peace because if we find more land or more fuel places, some countries could be fighting against another country to get the land or the fuel place.We could have more politic problems against different countries or we might not. It depends on how the government is so we can’t really know about that.
I think that the education can be improved and would be improved so that the kids later on could know more things and become more knowledgeable. There might be more schools and universities so that we can study more. There could be more subjects taught in schools so that also means that there would be more jobs available for people.
I think that later on, there would be a new kind of thing that can entertain you something that is not to do with T.V or electronics. There could be a new kind of a physical activity that is fun for you and good for you.

I think in 10 year our transportation, we are going to have cars that fly bigger aeroplanes, fast scooters and many more. I think our rainforest might be destroyed the earth will be very hot because all all these new cars. I’m not really sure how our communication system will change because we already have like 1,000,000 types of phone and you can go on msn, skype and facebook. Maybe us people might look like the people in WALLE. I’m sure there will be new sports more new games a better education and hopefully more peace not war but I think there will be new guns and new weapons which may be a chance of more war.

Your ideas are really great. You should explain more about sports and education.
I think that transportation will be kind of the same but with new brands, people using more expensive cars (e.g Ferrari, Mazzarati, Lamborghini) and more types of transportation will come.
I think the environment will have less trees, more pollution, new natural resources and less animals.
I think that communication will be the same but I think in a few thousand years people will have these small projectors like in star wars the clone wars and Ben 10 alien force.
I think there might something like WII only there wouldn’t be remotes.
I think health will be better and worse because there might be new medicine like a cure for cancer but worse because the people with no food might be forgotten and they won’t get food from us anymore.
I don’t really know what politics means.
I think that like Ranvir said they would do sports in weird places and there would be more competition’s and more types of sports.
I think more people will have WII, playstations, PSP, etc. and people will get lazy like the people in WALLE.
I think there will be more things to learn or otherwise other ways to learn something like math.
Maybe because of chemicals animals will get mutated which means more animal species for us to explore and the same thing with plants.
I think there will be more war for like water, food, oil or energy round about 2050 – 2100.

I agree with you that there will be war over basic needs. Experts say that world war 3 might be started because of the issues you told us.
I think in ten years there might be possibilities of flying cars. I think that in the future lots of things is going to be high tech stuff. Also that I’ve seen technology that helps u daily. There is this one thing that helps u when you don’t want to walk and instead sit or stand and drive on it. Also It seems bad that our world has really bad sustainable development that can shatter the world. I think that the world will and must come to an end someday but not for a long time.

When do you think our world will end?
I think by the time its 2020 there will be lots of developments. But I also think that the world will be a complete different place in good and bad ways. I think that there will probably be more cars and transportation created maybe ones that fly or use water instead fuel. I think that the population of trees and plants will defiantly get lower. I think there will be more communication devices made. I think that there will be lots of technology devices made. I think that people’s health won’t stay for long because soon there might not be any animals left and that’s protein I also think there might be more exercise equipment to motivate people to exercise which is useful. I think the economy will go up and that there will be many bumps along the way. I also think that there might be world war 3 because of the new weapons that are being made for wars. I also think that in a few years education won’t be that important and money will become everything in people’s lives.
I think that in a few years time the world will be a different place not only because of people but also because of our environment and how were treating it with such disrespect. I think that we should start thinking about our planet. People know there destroying so why don’t THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I agree with Mr. Robert that people are stupid in many ways. They think as themselves as the best people in the world when they are the worst. I think that people who try to save our planet are the best, this is just my perspective so what do you guys think?

You have told us mostly about the negative impacts do you think there is also other positive impacts?
I think that there will be more things to motivate people to do things like swim because I went to this hotel and the pool changes into 7 different colors and it made me really want to swim.
I think that the the transportation would be the same but a bit different. I think that eco-friendly car’s would be more popaular then they are now. I think that there would be less land that had lots of trees on the land like what Mr.Robert showed us the image of the amount of trees in 1800’s and then the 2nd image of the trees in (I’m not sure what year it was) but then in many years there would be less trees. I think communication would be more simpler and more complicated than it is now maybe you don’t need to charge phones or a watch that is also a phone together so it could me more simpler but you will need to continuosly learn how to use new technologies. The technology would be very different than today, it would be more common in everybodys lifeand will likely be more accessible to everyone. I think that exploration will have been more deeper than it is now and we will uncover more secrets of the past and future. I think that the entertainment will grow world wide (like show’s from Thailand will go to Australia etc) and entertainment will be a bigger part of our lives than it is now. One downside is that the poorest people may be left behind and may be end up in yesterd
yesterdays society, that’s something we should all think about.
I think our enviroment is goin to be really bad in the future unless if we pick up our act and really try to make the world a better place. I think there will be flying cars, jet packs and flying shoes and thats what i think the transport will be like. Communication, I think everybodys goin to have hi-tec phones and use them when there talking to the person next to them and there will 100 thing like face book. I think the Technology will be eg phones and ipods will be mind conntrolled like if the want to open internet they would just say internet. I also think that every thing would be touch to. I think that docters equipment will be so good that mabey when you break ur arm they can fix it strait away. But I of food and exercise. For food I think there will be alot of good foods and bad foods. For exercise the equipment will be so good. I think there would be a bit more problams because people will want thins that other people have. Sports will come to a hole new level. I think Intertanement will be huge and there will be something like a play station ten were like you go in to the game or something. I think everyone will have there own robot witch teaches them. I think there would be war over things like the michine that builds the building instantly.

Can you explain more about the communication bit? It is a little bit unclear.
Good things that might happen in 10years…
1. Car
Maybe the car door will open only if you say “open”
Maybe the car will move on their own if you select the place you want to go to.
2. Computer
Maybe there will be a computer that is shown by light and for example a keyboard, even if you pretend typing it will really type for real.
There might be a special attachment that can attach to your brain and the computer will do whatever you want it to do only by thinking.
3. House
Two claps = lights on/off
One claps = Air Conditioner on/off
Three claps = food and water. (only the things you like)
Bad things that might happen in 10years…
Maybe our earth got too polluted and we were not allowed to use electricity and live like a long long time ago.
Maybe global warming got too bad and the earth got too hot that we can’t go outside to play with friends or to learn or to buy stuff and all the other things that you have to go out to do it.
Everyone on earth might have some kind of fever that no one can stop and maybe everyone might… die.
I really like the way you said things that happen by actions, I wish I thought of that!
Good things that might happen in 10 years…
1. Computer
If I say that what we want to write, then computer automatically write what we say
2. Cell phone or tell phone
If I want to call someone, then I say “I want to call …. (←say people’s name)” and then cell phone or tell phone comes out from somewhere and it’s into my hand and I can call to people
3. House
If I came from somewhere (for example, if I came back from school) then, the door is automatically open and I can go into home. Then the snacks come out from kitchen and when I finish eat it back to kitchen… in the other word this is automatically house.
I think in 10 years time the world would have changed a lot in things we see every day and things that we can’t find the solution to.
I would like to start off with cars. I think in 10 years time in 2020 there should be eco-friendly cars to help save the environment instead of getting it destroyed by more pollution than normal. Just to be creative I think that for transport maybe there will be another way of getting place to place by machines. I think there is going to be a big difference in the mechanic area. I have read in newspapers that they are thinking that by the time its 2020 there will be robots who do our chores for us or an electronic machine which do all the cleaning for us. And maybe the transport will also be flying cars and all sorts of stuff because I once entered a contest on flying cars and making the design so they could actually take your ideas to use it for the future.
I think the environment would change in the forests when we had our guest speaker today I never thought that there was actually a lot of difference in cutting down trees in forest, now there is not that much left in the world. I probably think that from the hunting that people have been doing for food or for getting money, animals will start to fade become extinct. It is something that we have to start to stop but I have a question if we stop hunting for our food for example seafood then what can we eat?
I think in the phone world in 2020 there will be more upgraded phones which are handier to use and to take it along with you where ever you go. It would have more technology and more things in 1. Like how we say 2 in 1, well I think in the future there will be more in 1 than 2. From our guest speaker today I think that we will all actually have a lot of phones so I think that in that war area in the world that have something that develops the phone will still have a lot of trouble and killing. If we don’t have mobile phones then the killing will be stopped but some people have work and they need things that are portable and some people can’t just live without phones.
For Internet there will be more faster access than right now in the future. I think there will be more better sites for us to use for example like Prezi. I am not sure but I think that there might me more ways to communicate than just email, msn so on.
In schools people will have more education in learning I think because there will be different ways of learning for example using your hands maybe there is a better way of learning that we, humans have discovered that could help a lot.

It’s a pleasure to have Robin Steele to come and discuss about sustainable, development and about the future with us. I found his presentation very interesting so I decided to discuss this issue with my family and I also ask for their own opinions.
I would predict that there are going to be many phases regarding transport, nature, environment, communication, technology, health, politics, sports, entertainment, education and exploration 10 years from now, I see these things happens according to these categories. I think our world will be falling apart. This is because people are destroying the earth that we need to live on. It will be in the middle because pollution and global warming will obviously get worse, because people doesn’t seem to care about it, but technology may get better. This can only get better if you care and try to send message across to people to stop global warming.
My sister perspective: The world in 10 years might be either developed or doomed. Taking account of the global warming issue, in the future the transportation or any other things that release pollution will not be in use anymore, but instead people will constantly come up with new ideas to invent such thing as electrical car as we might have heard or seen one till today. The worst that could possibly happen in 10 years is the rising of the sea levels, which might flood and wipe out some of the countries. For example: Thailand is known to be of one of it. Clearly we are not entirely sure of what could happen in 10 years from now as there are a lot of human and environmentally impact that contribute to a lot of things accruing in today world.

Communication will help us in the future by getting are work done faster and communicating with the world faster. Well technology has to improve or else WE WILL DIE :(. Technology has to be faster and safer. Well as we know their is so many people dying at the moment we need to use technology to in-proves health so people will not die. Well politicians need to get out their causing this big problem NO POLITICS NO POLITICS NO POLITICS NO POLITICS NO POLITICS. I Say this because the government and the president have been screwing up this world. Well not much to say about sports. Education needs to in-prove teachers must teach better they can get so boring. They need to make their strategies to learning more interesting. Entertainment is confusing and I don’t understand. Peace should start why are people fighting because the are posers they want to be like someone else and there are a lot of posers in the worlds

I disagree with you with ”no politics”. Even though politicians are ruining our lives, they are still needed. They are like leaders.
I think in 10 years (If we last that long) the world will be the same same cars mabye some new contraptions but otherwise the same. If we don’t stop polluting, the earths enviroment will be completly destroyed, If we do stop polluting, hopfuly the enviroment will be great. I think communication will go uphill (down hill for the GRR). There will be new Iphones for the world mabye even a tiny phone that you can hang round your neck. I don’t think there is any way of telling about war or peace. There is no waywe can tell about the future.

my theories,
First of all I would like to say that Earth will change, people will stop pollution and be eco-friendly. All that is possible.
For transportation the world will be definetly different. Cars will be powered by electricity, we would use gravity planes and new speed boats instead of planes. People might have already invented planes that fly high into Earth’s atmosphere to reduce frition and make the plane incredibly fast.
Robots will be every in the world now. Doing many jobs for us. Building will look different by being covered with wind mills and solar panels. They will be made from aerogel a special material that keeps heat and temperature. If paint stains or we spill water on the floor nanamaterials will fix it molecule by molecule. Holograph technology will make us be able to talk with virtual Elvis or swim with a virtual great white shark. Play video games with virtual reality making everything 3-D and feel like real life.
The environment will make a comeback again, it will return and get back to its best form. Trees will be regrown and animals will be protected. Like many other species endangered animals that are endangered will make a comeback. Trees and gardens will be in almost every building roof top. Growing plants with hydroponics and dynoponics technology will reduce the cost of delivering food and fertilizers and pesticides.
Telephones will be even smaller and more functions will be included into it. These gadgets will go into another age. Now things are in touch screen and wireless states. In the future these gadgets will be even better. They can be hidden in clothing making us able to call someone using our hat or shirt.
Health will be different, using genetically modifided vegetables our vaccine chemicals can be in vegetables instead of a needle. Using robots doctors can operate more accurately. There might be prevention and therapy for aids/HIV, diabetes and cancer. Also in the future there might be more diseases as viruses and bacteria continue to evolves.
Politics will be better. There will be less corruption and other scams caused by prime ministers. The economy will go up steadily and in a good way. It will not break like it happended in the great deppresion, the ecomic crisis in the late 1990’s and now.
Everyone will have education so every is well educated. Education might even happen at home through a computer. Computers will be used more often and writing with pen and paper might be a thing of the past.
Exploration will go out of the Earth and will go to the age of space exploration. Newer planets will be discovered and more countries will have people in their country going to space. People will explore places like Loch Ness lake and find out the answer, ”is the Loch Ness monster really or not”.
Newer weapons can be used for war. Nuclear weapons and robots will be used in war. There might be a nuclear holocaust like the one that nearly happened in the 1960’s. But still people will be more intelligent and make peace.

Anything can happen in the next ten years, global warming, world being destroyed, we move to another planet. Anything can happen any time anywhere. It can be a good or and bad impact. I have been thinking about the 2012 issue, if we don’t take care the earth now we might be in a situation like that for the next few years. MAYBE. IF the earth isn’t really that good, technology and all the needs and most of the wants will disapere.
For sure, the natural environment will be gone at least 50 percent of what the earth has now. I’m waiting to see if someone is making a change and take action by it. When I go to central they have these fancy bags that are for sale to help the enivornment but not alot of people buy it and use it. There might be a very bad environemnt in the next 10 years. And possibly people’s health might not be very good because there aren’t alot of natural resources left.Technology will be very powerfull in the next 10 years because people will think of new ideas and turns into new product and technology. For example, Tomas edison with the light bulb. In my perspective there will be many more sports created because ideas will turn into creations. There would be alot more of entertainment, maybe James Cameron will make another cool movie like avatar and I’m not only talking about new movies but new channels,games,t.v series. For phones, I think it will be something that everybody will have and telephones can be used more in many ways. People who laern will get smater in every generation because in my parent’s ementary life, they did not have a blog to commmunicate and computers. Possibly, in the next ten years astronuts will be flying to space and explore what’s going on out there. Maybe they will discouver a new planet and change the history. Everybody should take action to save the world and cooperate and communicate in a friendly way to improve and help lifes so there is no war and other things. We should all rethink in what we do.
Just to make it clear for me, I have researched about some posibilities:
1. Brain enhanced robotics that robots that the wires in our brains go to the robot and make it work.
2. We might find aliens from outer space.
3. vehicles that don’t give out gas.
4. super springed basketball shoes for short people to jump as high as a 2m guy.
5. capsule food that when you put it in the microvave, it becomes as big as a pizza.
