Cricket Match – Sri Lanka vs India
Me, Anirudh and a couple of other friends watched the world cup final together. Anirudh and a few other friends came to my house to watch the game. We were all very nervous as Sri Lanka posted a high score of 275. There were lots of messages going around on indian phones for example “all is well- pass this on”
Whenever the TV showed the crowd we looked for Shikhar as he was there watching it live. We didn’t have luck though as we did not see shiku.
When India started batting we al became very very nervous as one of our star batsman ( Virender Sehwag ) got out on the second ball. Then our greatest hope for winning Sachin Tendulker got out on 18 runs which gave some people tears as Sachin Tendulker had a possibility of getting his hundredth 100 in the World Cup final which would make the record books.
After this we were very very very very nervous as our score was 21 for 2 which is a really bad score. Then Gautam Gambhir saved us and steadied the innings by getting 97. Then with 25 balls left and 25 runs to win India started hitting Fours and Sixes.
Then with four runs left to win Dhoni hit a massive sixer and India won the game. We were all very very excited because it was the first time in 28 years that India won the world cup. We all celebrated in our house.
We Were Klosed
Since I was cheering Argentina yesterday, I decided to copy the English papers but instead of We were Muellered, We Were Klosed.
Germany played ruthless football to beat Argentina 4-0 with Thomas Mueller scoring in the 2nd minute. Miroslav Klose got his first of two goals with a fine coordinating set-piece-he looked offside though. Surprising Arne Freidrich came on the scoresheet with Bayern playmaker Bastian Shweinsteiger passed to him in the box. Klose finished it in the last minute sending the Germans through. They will next play Spain, who beat Paraguay 1-0 with David Villa scoring in the 82nd minute.
Holland will play Uruguay on the 6th of July.
Holland come back from behind to stun 5 time champs Brazil
Holland were the first team to reach the semifinals when 2 amazing Wesley Sneijder goals in 15 minutes drowned Brazil. Holland next face Uruguay-they ended African hopes 4-2 on penalties. The Brazilians broke through first when Robinho blasted a low drive past Maarten Steklenburg in the Dutch goal. Holland showed their true potential in the second half as a Wesley Snejder freekick hit the top of Filipe Melo but it counted as an own goal. The second goal came in the 70th minute with Wesley Sneijder scoring again this time from an Arjen Robben corner which Liverpool star Kuyt flicked it for him to easily put it past Julio Cesar. Filipe Melo was then sent off for a nasty tackle and a step on Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben.

Korea and United States Dumped Out
South Korea’s dream run came to an end when Luis Suarez scored a goal to put Uruguay through by 2 goals to 1. Although they didnt manage the quarters, their home fans must be really proud of their progress. On the other hand, Ghana knocked America out with an extra time goal from Asamoah Gyan-Ghana through for the first time in history. President Obama was to make an appearance at Port Elizabeth yesterday but I dont know if he did.
Unapproved World Cup Song because of Racism
This is an unaproved version of the World Cup song sung by Shakira. It was unapproved because it wasnt sung by an African and the SAF Commitee wanted an African to sing it so K’naan stood up and sang Waving Flag which I put up earlier.
I cant take any action on this matter but I can say to the SAF that you are being racist and not accepting a song better than the chosen one.
P.S.
1. I like it more than Waving Flag.
