Did you ever wonder what your name meant? I have two different names. My really name is Gayoung and I asked my father who name me. He told me that my name is connected with Mandarin. Ga is Beautiful Ga and Young is corolla. So that means my name is a beautiful corolla. Now, I know the true meaning of my name and I appreciate it. The other name which is Vicky. My mom named me like this because she wanted me to be more strong and be to have a meaning of victory. I felt so happy I have parents that really care about me!
So now, can you tell me your story and why your parents named you like that? What do you feel about it? Do you like it? Can you really feel and understand your name and are you going to be a person like that? How do your parents think about your name? Do they think you are a person like that?
Show your parents your comments from yesterday’s homework and explain that this unit is all about how people’s thinking can change. Ask them how their thinking has changed as they have grown older. Get several examples and make a detailed comment to tell us about them.
Think back to when you were a very small child. What things did you used to think were true, right or good back then but have now changed your mind?
Make a comment to tell us as many examples of how your thinking has “shifted” as you can from your life so far!
Think carefully about the following questions and then write a comment to share your thoughts.
- What inspires you?
- What people have inspired you through their actions, ideas or acts of creative expression?
- What inspiring experiences have you had in your life?
- What things are inspiring you at the moment?
Make a comment to tell us which thing or things inspire you to express yourself creatively. Also, share some ideas about how you might express yourself and why that would be a good way to do it.
Make a comment to tell us what you think about everything that is happening here in Thailand and Bangkok.
What is wisdom? What does wisdom mean? What makes a person wise? What does a wise person do? How do you become a wise person? What is the difference between wisdom and knowledge?
Think about these questions. Discuss them with your family. Do a little research in books or in the Internet. Make a comment to share your thinking. Add on to other people’s comments instead of repeating what other people say. Make it a conversation.

Scroll through the pages to see what 6SS students have been thinking about as the focus for their PYP Exhibition.
What do you think about these issues?
We are continuing on our task of asking people about their choices of topics for the upcoming Exhibition. We used the same question of ‘if the Exhibition was tomorrow, what topic would you choose?’ but this time we added a sentence before saying a question and it is ‘remember last time we asked you about your exhibition topic? Well we are updating so did you change your mind of stay the same?’
This time most people took slightly longer to think and we reminded them of their old topic, so they got the question quickly after a reminder.
The results were…

Again we would to raise up a conversation to make it interesting and we would like to see the reasons of your topic…
1. Did you change your topic? Why/Why not?
2. How did you come of your topic?-have you always had the passion of it?
3. Why do you think that you would want to work with the topic you chose and what issues are in your topic?
The thoughts and conversations that we need to have in order to find out what we’re passionate about are very deep and serious. In order to think about such serious things, we need to be in the right state of mind. We will be using Yoga and Meditation techniques to help us become calm, mindful and ready.
After this amazing preparation, we were really ready to think about these questions:
We were very lucky today. We had a guest speaker called Andrew Keen, Paul’s uncle. Andrew really chellanged the way many of us think, he may even have “shifted our thinking” a bit.
What did you think of the things he said to you today?
